When rumours began swirling that legendary chef
Susur Lee was spotted scouting out Dundas West as a location for his newest restaurant, it immediately
grabbed my attention. Not only because Lee is a renowned chef who inspires cooks (both all-star and amateur)
from around the world, or for being known for his appearances on Iron Chef America
in a
famous cooking challenge with Bobby Flay, as a finalist on Top Chef: Masters
and
guest judge on Top Chef Canada.
Of course, I wanted to
wait to hear the confirmation from the fusion cuisine king himself, which he made on
Thursday.
“It’s true, we’re coming
to Dundas!” Lee announced via his Twitter
page.
The new dinner-only
restaurant is set to take over the former Le Corner location at 777 Dundas Street West (at Markham). It will
join Lee’s two restaurants already in Toronto, Lee Lounge and Lee, located side-by-side on King Street
West.
Chef Lee will run the
Dundas restaurant, with the help of his two sons, Kai Bent-Lee and Levi Lee.
The new restaurant will be
in good company, joining Lee’s impressive line-up of famous restaurants around the world, including Shang in
New York, Zentan in Washington, and Chinois in Singapore.
The new resto, which has
yet to be named, is set to open early next year. And we can't wait!
