A Sky-High Celebration

Loden Hotel celebrates its 3rd anniversary in style

October 31, 2011

The event celebrating the downtown Vancouver boutique hotel’s 3rd anniversary kicked off last Thursday at 7:30 p.m. by TV personality Fiona Forbes, who was the host for the evening. She was joined by a star-studded line-up of local sports stars, socialites and celebrities including actresses Christie Laing (Tucker & Dale vs. Evil), Nicole Oliver (Innocent), Devon Weigel (The Big Year) and Leena Manro (Sisters & Brothers).

Forbes was dressed in an outfit by one of the event’s partners, Jacqueline Conoir with jewels from Montecristo.

The hotel received the Five Star Diamond Award by the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences (AAHS), becoming the only organization in Canada to have received the honour for three consecutive years. The AAHS also recognized Tableau Bar Bistro with a Restaurant Award and executive Chef Marc-Andre Choquette was awarded the Chef Plate and Medallion.

The AAHS is headquartered in New York City and is renowned worldwide for awarding excellence in the global travel and luxury services sector. Joseph Cinque, president of AAHS travelled to Vancouver for the event, which also saw real estate developer Amalio De Cotiis posthumously acknowledged with the first Lifetime Achievement Award to be given in Canada.

Guests were escorted up to the penthouse floors where they were able to wander from room to room to see varying entertainment that changed with each suite — offering something for everyone. Loden’s Halo penthouse was transformed into the Montecristo Watch Salon, featuring a Moet & Chandon Champagne Bar and Oyster Ice Bar. On the 14th floor, guests got a look at the latest JAC collection from local designer Jacqueline Conoir while the ladies took advantage of the lips, lash and hair gallery. Meanwhile, in Belmont Room 81, male guests enjoyed some gentlemen’s grooming courtesy of Master Barber Dustin Fishbook, while sampling the 1181 Bourbon Bar.

The party came to a close at 10 p.m. as Fiona announced the winners of the raffle draws, with proceeds benefitting Growing Chefs!, a non-profit society that educates kids about growing and cooking food. However, many guests continued their night at Tableau Bar Bistro, where they danced to live blues-rock by Terminal Station Band.
