Early 20th century art jewelry will be
exhibited at New York City’s Forbes Galleries starting on Oct. 29 through to March 17,
2012.
Titled “International Art Jewelry: 1895-1925,” the gallery will bring together various art movements from
around the world and compare them side-by-side. Don’t expect to see mainstream jewelry from the Victorian
era, but rather pieces from the Art Nouveau movement in France, Arts & Crafts in Great Britain and the
U.S., Jugendstil from Germany and Australia and Stile Liberty from Italy.
200 pieces from 75 artists will be on display, challenging viewers to point out the similarities and
differences between jewelry from different parts of the world.
The gallery has also welcomed author and co-director of the Association for the Study of Jewelry and Related
Arts Elyse Zorn Karlin as a guest curator.
