Winter is hardly a time to complain, but another opportunity for Canadians to play in the snow at the 2011
Canada Winter Games.
The Games are being hosted in Halifax this year, bringing in great tourism and a variety of sports from
alpine skiing to wheelchair basketball. With the large selection of games and competitions, it leaves no room
for spectators to be unsatisfied. The Games have been going full speed ahead since Feb. 11, and will be
continuing until Feb. 27.
As of Feb. 18, Quebec is in the lead with 24 gold medals, 22 silvers, and 14 bronze medals, adding up to a
staggering 60 medals already. Although Quebec is in the lead, there is no doubt in my mind that British
Columbia, Ontario and Alberta will give the province a run for its money. They’ve racked up 35, 30 and 29
medals, respectively and we are still just a week into the Games.
With many more events to go until the 27th, there is no telling which way the competition is
headed. The nation will be watching — and cheering!
