Bodwell offers a rich and nurturing environment which is beneficial for developing academic, physical, emotional and social attributes. Bodwell is home to a diverse student population, which includes both native and international students. Students are put in an environment where they can interact with one another, exchange ideas, share experiences, and express themselves without inhibitions.
Bodwell offers students the Global Awareness and Citizenship program which aims to teach students the two virtues that separate humans from other animals -humility and humanity. Students are taught different attributes related to human and social development, as expected from all secondary school graduates in British Columbia. Through this program, students learn to become socially responsible citizens. They are taught to be caring, conscientious and respectful towards the ideas and beliefs of other individuals. Respect for the law and awareness about the rights & responsibilities of a democracy are emphasized.
Students attain different attributes to enhance their human and social development. Focus is emphasized on three main aspects, they are: viz; interconnectedness; responsibility and involvement. Students must realize and appreciate the increasing inter-connectivity between political, social, economic and environmental relations around the world in order to act responsibly and contribute positively. Students need to actively and constructively get involved with global issues, whether it is on an individual level, through their community, or with people around the world. In combination, these attributes result in human and social development, which makes students better individuals and responsible citizens.
Global awareness and citizenship is taught through various means. Our academic courses are designed in a manner that allows students to explore several social and environmental issues. The extracurricular activities provide opportunities and diverse experiences to help teach leadership skills. The school's House System is designed to teach students about different values such as justice, multiculturalism and violence prevention. Students are also taught to resolve conflicts in a constructive and mutually beneficial manner. In order to acknowledge their efforts, students are given awards for service learning and citizenship
Students can positively contribute to society by growing into responsible citizens and avoiding conflicts and other destructive activities. Excellence in academics, sports and fine arts are achieved by students of Bodwell. Upon graduation, students turn out to be confident, dedicated, respectful, tactful, and able to deal with challenges that come their way.•
