The summer is upon us and while we crave the scorching
sun, our hair does not.
Straightening our hair is out of the question this summer, because in the sun, our hair can do some pretty
funky things. Hair gets frizzy, it becomes uncontrollable and sometimes it just seems impossible to have hair
that stays sexy while you’re at a friend’s backyard barbecue, at the beach or the bar.
Below are summer hair trends that will help you surf into summer in style.
Making waves
Our best advice is to go with the hair texture you have and don’t try to make your hair what it’s
not because it may be impossible in the hot weather. So, loose, undone, messy waves are our top trend this
summer.
It looks like it’s effortless and it pretty much is! All that is needed is styling cream or surf spray, then
a quick blow-dry before you go out. Put simply: Work with what you’ve got, girl!
Can I have a side of fish?
Hair sticking to the back of your neck is pretty uncomfortable as you try to enjoy the hot sun this
summer. That’s why the side braid and the fishtail braid has tangled its way into Lifestyle’ssummer
hair trends to watch out for.
It is the perfect solution to sweep hair away from your face, neck and back, keeping you cool and stylish.
It’s great for the daytime but also, it’s a romantic look at night for a dinner with a significant other or
going out to a bar with friends. It is pretty simple to do but we’ve found a how-to YouTube video to show us how to do it right.
A lengthy endeavour
Go to the hairdresser and break out the scissors. For most of us at the office, we love our hair
long and there’s nothing wrong with that. If you’re not looking for a drastic change, our suggestion is to go
with just a bit more than a trim. Cut at least 1½ to 2 inches off your length, because we can guarantee that
the vitamin D you will be getting from the sun will have it growing so healthy by the summer’s end.
Now, if you’re more courageous and are looking to be bold this summer — bobs are back in. That’s right
ladies, just-below-the-ear bobs with side-swept bangs are the hit haircuts taking over the summer. And we’re
not surprised. It’s a practical way to keep the hair off your shoulders and embrace staying cool during the
hot summer months.
Up-doing yourself
Summers are packed with family and friends’ weddings, elegant events and fancy galas. When it comes
to evening styles, a side up-do is really easy and does not look too done up.
Summer evening hair is less serious and your event outlook should mimic your hairdo — and that is to have
fun! This extremely flirtatious hairstyle will accompany any dress to any event.•
